Privacy Policy
FolioInsight shows your Sharesight portfolios on your iPhone and iPad. It is built so that your financial information stays on your devices: the developer does not run a server for the app, has no user accounts, and does not collect, store, sell or share your data.
What the developer collects
Nothing. FolioInsight contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting code, and it does not send any information to the developer.
If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to send, which includes the app version and device model that FolioInsight fills in for you. We use it only to reply, and do not share it.
What stays on your device
- Sharesight API details. Your Client ID and Client Secret are stored in the iOS Keychain. If iCloud Keychain is on, Apple syncs them, end-to-end encrypted, to your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. They are only ever sent to Sharesight.
- Portfolio data and prices. Data downloaded from Sharesight and price history are cached on your device so the app opens quickly and works offline. The cache is not included in device backups.
- Settings. Your preferences (for example portfolio order, chart options and the app lock) are stored on your device and are included in your normal device backups.
- Widget. A summary of your figures is shared with FolioInsight’s widget through a container on your device.
Deleting FolioInsight removes all of this from that device. Removing your Sharesight details in Settings removes them from every device that syncs them.
Services FolioInsight contacts directly
FolioInsight connects from your device to these services. Each receives your device’s IP address and the information described, and handles it under its own privacy policy.
- Sharesight (sharesight.com), with your API details, to read your portfolios, holdings, trades and dividends. FolioInsight only reads data; it never changes anything in your Sharesight account.
- Yahoo Finance (finance.yahoo.com), for prices, price history, exchange rates and benchmark searches. These requests include the ticker symbols of your holdings and any benchmarks you choose, but no account details or amounts.
- GitHub (github.com), to download the Outsmart the Open briefs. If you add a GitHub token for a private repository, it is sent to GitHub with those requests.
- Apple, if you leave a tip. Payment is handled entirely by Apple; the developer never sees your payment details or identity.
Face ID
If you turn on the app lock, iOS handles Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. FolioInsight never has access to your biometric data.
This website
folioinsight.app uses no cookies, analytics, fonts or scripts from anyone else. Like any web server, its host may keep standard access logs (such as IP addresses and pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
Children
FolioInsight is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will appear in the app and on its web page, with a new effective date.
